Product description

There is no more practical choice than the BF15 or BF20 for boats between 12 and 16 feet in length. They have a starting weight of just 104 pounds, making them one of the lightest in their category. But they all have the Honda hallmarks of being peaceful, dependable, economical, and stuffed with conveniences.

Like the highest output charging system in their category, providing enough juice to run all your gadgets while trolling.

Alternatively, a big displacement means a more robust output. The BFP Power Thrust design provides an additional boost of 60% in reverse thrust and 15% in forward thrust.

The mix of power and mobility is perfect when you consider the one-hand starting, shallow water drive, and other features.

Step by step

How to measure your transom

  1. 01With the boat level, measure vertically from the top centre of the transom down to the lowest point of the hull directly below it.
  2. 02A measurement around 15" needs a short shaft (S), 20" a long shaft (L) and 25" an extra-long shaft (UL).
  3. 03Allow for a jockey or transom bracket if fitted — the bracket height is added to the transom measurement.
  4. 04This engine is supplied as Short shaft (15"). Send us your measurement and we will confirm before we dispatch.

Ownership

Servicing & running costs

First service
At 20 hours or three months, whichever comes first — required to keep the warranty valid.
Routine intervals
Annually or every 100 hours: oil, filters, gearbox oil, anodes, impeller inspection and plugs.
Fuel & oil
Unleaded 95 RON minimum with a marine four-stroke oil to the specification in the owner's manual. Flush with fresh water after every use in salt water.
Winterising
Fuel stabiliser, drained cooling system and a fogged cylinder bore before laying up.
